Updated: Mar 13, 2023

Let's face it, recruitment is evolving for 2023. Are you ready?

In years past, companies have mostly been more reactive to hiring, rather than proactive. Recent technological advancements and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic are forcing the modern workplace to evolve. There have been shifts in recruiting expectations. Are you prepared to compete for today's best talent? According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. employers added 311,000 new jobs in February of 2023, down from a revised 504,000 in January 2023. The unemployment rate rose to 3.6 percent. The rise in unemployment is shifting our recruiting focus to help us be more proactive and hire the most robust, dynamic workforce.

The rise of the proactive recruiter is here to stay for a while. What does this mean for us as Professional Recruiters? Recruiters are embracing candidate relationship management also known as CRM. This strategy has been found to be effective when applied to three levels. These levels are existing candidates, with previous candidates, and with potential candidates. Treating candidates as valuable internal customers helps to elevate the recruitment process to new heights. An example could be creating email campaigns with interesting and relevant content to potential candidates.

Another hot topic today is data-driven recruiting and HR Analytics. These tools are new recruiting strategies where HR makes hiring plans and decisions based on data. The Applicant Tracking software (ATS) or HRIS system, helps simplify, streamline, and hasten the recruitment process.

Employer Branding is a BIG topic for 2023 and beyond. Branding is crucial to attracting and retaining the best talents. Developing work teams relies on having a robust employer brand. A good employer brand must have an awesome EVP to have long-term retention. EVP is employee value proposition. EVP integrates employee engagement with branding to support and attract the right candidate. An awesome EVP for your business requires an inspiring purpose, respect for people, and team-oriented work. How does your Employer Brand rate? Are you going to attract the best talent?

The effect of an employer brand is compelling. It is crucial to build your brand with a dynamic workforce that will influence your brand and purpose. An employer brand dictates whether or not potential candidates will join your team or your competitors. Advocating for Excellence
